Pressure Vessel Engineering

Specialised Services by Perdigó

Pressurised Equipment Design and Legalisation

Welcome to Perdigó’s specialised engineering services for pressure equipment, covering both the design and legalisation of equipment for the production, storage, transportation and use of pressurised fluids. Pressure equipment poses significant risks, such as the danger of explosions due to high pressures and temperatures, when not engineered and maintained correctly. Perdigó focuses on understanding and mitigating safety issues, especially at the design stage, ensuring safety, performance and regulatory compliance.

Engineering and Design Services

Perdigó offers full engineering and design services for:

  • Pressure vessels
  • Autoclaves
  • Heat exchangers
  • Reactors, columns, and towers
  • Boilers
  • Flat-bottom tanks (API)
  • Piping
  • Quick – closures systems
  • Mechanical components

02

Design Method and Codes

Our choice of calculation approach is adapted depending on the equipment’s complexity, experience and client needs, between:

  • Perdigó’s self-developed procedures in spreadsheets.
  • AutoPIPE Vessel software.
  • Ansys Mechanical, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software, combined with Design by Analysis (DBA) methodologies for complex equipment.

We have expertise in a wide range of codes, specially in: ASME VIII Division 1 and 2, EN 13445, AD Merkblätter, EN 12952 (for boilers), EN 13480, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3 (for pipes), and API 650 (for flat-bottom tanks).

03

Legalisation paths

CE Marking: EU pressure equipment must comply with the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) 2014/68/EU, leading to CE marking or a manufacturer certificate.

  • We provide guidance and technical documentation for CE marking

ASME Stamp: US pressure equipment must comply with ASME requirements and be manufactured by an ASME stamp-accredited.

  • We offer engineering and code calculation for ASME manufacturers, especially in the design phase and ASME joint review

Design Development

At Perdigó, the long-standing history of pressure vessel engineering services has enabled the collection of an extensive repository of equipment and designs, empowering our team to tailor and validate trustworthy solutions according to clients’ specific needs. This repository is particularly in the development and validation of Quick Closures for Autoclaves. Designs are customised to meet client requirements, ensuring safety through the combination of self-developed procedures and finite element simulation.

Perdigó’s approach to design development is both innovative and precise, reflecting a commitment to delivering bespoke design solutions. Whether it’s creating a new design from scratch or adapting existing models, the team leverages a wealth of knowledge and resources to meet the unique challenges presented by each project. This includes a meticulous process of design development that involves:

Utilizing an extense design library and engineering techniques, Perdigó creates customized solutions that align with specific client needs.

Advanced FEA software, such as Ansys Mechanical, is employed to simulate and analyze the structural integrity of designs under various conditions.

For complex geometries, our DBA methodologies adhere to ASME VIII-2 Part 5 or EN 13445 Annex B & C, such as stress categorization, the limit-load method, fatigue weld analysis, and elasto-plastic analysis.
